The PWWC is responsible for the safe treatment and timely distribution of drinking water to the citizens of the City of Princeton, in addition to residents located in Caldwell County and Lyon County by virtue of selling water to these water districts. Additionally, the Commission provides wastewater treatment services to customers mainly located within the city limits of Princeton.
The Water Treatment Plant is a surface plant rated for daily production of up to three million gallons per day. Raw (untreated) water is supplied to the water treatment plant from the Cumberland River (Lake Barkley). Lake Barkley is a 57,900-acre lake with 1,004 miles of shoreline and its supply is essentially unlimited for the area. PWWC has three water tanks with storage capacity of 2.1 million gallons. The water system’s distribution network consists of approximately 89 miles of transmission and distribution lines ranging in size (diameter) from 2-inch to 16-inch. This includes approximately 76,000 LF of a 16-inch transmission line which transports water from the WTP to the Linton Hill Tank and the rest of the system.
